So you’re really good at your thing. You’re shit hot at your thing. You’re better at the thing you do than anyone else you’ve ever really met and not only that, but you’re a bit obsessed by it. You know exactly who is leading the game in your thing in your city and other cities and the world. And in the past. And the future. You’ve got pictures of these legends on your walls and you have read and listened to and seen and touched and worshipped their work for years. Because you’re good at your thing. It’s what you do. Also FUNDING. You want it! And advice. You love advice! You’ll do anything for a bit of advice! Some good ol’ fashioned guida-FUNDING. MONEY. FROM THE GOVERNMENT, for you, to do whatever the shit it is that you are freaking awesome at doing.
It’s called Jump Mentoring, and it’s for ‘artists’ (read: anything in the arts) in the first five years of their ‘professional practice’ who are 18-30 years of age. It IS based in Queensland but it’s open to people from all different cities. It’s an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts and Youth Arts Queensland and it’s tailor-made for creative, driven, motivated and inspired people, allowing you to choose a leader in your field to mentor you and help you develop professionally. So get on it before February 26. Download the app forms at their website.
